EDUCATE. EMPOWER. ELEVATE.

“Montessori is a lifestyle. It’s the ultimate person-centered approach to caring for someone with dementia.”
What Does Montessori Dementia Care Training Look Like?
Montessori isn’t just a teaching method – it’s a way of seeing people. What began with Dr. Maria Montessori’s work with children has since evolved into a compassionate approach for adults living with dementia. At its heart, it’s all about honoring the individual – their strengths, their choices, their story.
In a Montessori-inspired care environment, the focus shifts from what’s been lost to what’s still possible. It’s about building daily rhythms, inviting participation, nurturing independence, and creating small but meaningful moments of joy. Most of all, it’s about helping people stay grounded in themselves, in their relationships, and in the purpose that still lives within them.
There are 8 Principles at the core of Montessori:
- Principle 1: Creating person-focused care
- Principle 2: Fostering dignity and respect
- Principle 3: Promoting socialization
- Principle 4: Creating an environment to encourage independence
- Principle 5: Promoting independence and choice
- Principle 6: Ability and strength-focused care model
- Principle 7: Embracing the holistic development of the whole person
- Principle 8: Encouraging independence in activities of daily living
Who is this Training For?
- Memory care professionals and CNAs
- Long-term care staff and caregivers
- Activity directors or life enrichment leaders
- Home care providers working with dementia clients
- Anyone looking to bring structure, independence, and dignity to dementia care
“Education is the roadmap that turns exhaustion into resilience and uncertainty into confidence.”

Why Montessori Works
Montessori dementia care works because it meets people where they are. Instead of trying to control behavior or push routines, we help people move through their day with dignity. This approach brings life back into senior communities through:
Life skills areas with tasks that feel familiar and rewarding
Nature-based activities like gardening or outdoor exercise
Spaces designed for conversation, calm, and connection
And just as important – it changes the way you feel. Montessori Dementia Care training gives caregivers tools that actually help by reducing stress and reconnecting you to your “why.”

“Thank you for doing such an excellent job with the seminar. Your knowledge, expertise, and delivery certainly encapsulated the audience. We received several favorable comments from our employees, especially our caregivers. They felt thankful for the opportunity and unanimously expressed that they all learned something valuable that they will take back and use with their clients. I think an important factor was, besides your expert knowledge on the topic of dementia, your sincerity and exuberant concern and care for the elderly was certainly felt by the entire audience.”
“I recently participated in a seminar on Dementia and Alzheimer’s and it was excellently presented by Certified Senior Advisor Loretta Shacklett and the information was presented professionally and with passion and shared insight in many areas of the disease and how to address different situations! Thank you!”
“So helpful and easy to understand. I have already applied the training in dealing with some of my clients and the results have been amazing. If you ever see a class that she is offering, make sure you sign up before they are filled.”
“I recently attended the Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Seminar via zoom with Loretta. She was a very thorough and engaging practitioner for this course. I feel like I walked away with a wealth of knowledge about Dementia and how to properly care for individuals with the disease as well as how to help support their loved ones and care givers. I would highly recommend Loretta and this course to my colleagues or anyone interested.”
“After attending the Alzheimer’s and Dementia Course with Loretta I felt so confident going back to work with memory care. “Be guiding not controlling” was one quote that stuck with me. I recommend this course to everyone because you’ll never know when you’ll come in contact with someone suffering from Dementia/Alzheimer’s. Having the knowledge of knowing how to communicate and engage can make a big difference in someone’s life. Thank You!”
